Is there a fee to participate?

The Walk is free and open to the public.  All money raised through registrations and special events goes directly to breeding, training and placing guide dogs with visually impaired men and women.  There are special optional Platinum and Silver registration opportunities that entitle you to special commemorative Walk items.

Where is the Walk held?

The Connecticut Walk site is located at Manchester Community College in Manchester, CT on May 15, 2010.  The Walk kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m.  But that’s not all!  Stay and help us celebrate Fidelco’s 50th anniversary with a free concert.  Pack a lunch or visit our food vendor as the Diamond Collection (www.diamondcollectionrocks.com) will have you rocking in your seat!  Don’t forget to bring a blanket or a chair.

The first annual Boston Walk for Fidelco will be held at Castle Island in South Boston from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

What is the Walk route like?

The walk routes are paved walking paths.

Can I walk before 8:30 or after 11:00?

Although the official Walk begins at  8:30 a.m., Walk routes are open all day

How far do I have to Walk?

You choose your goal! In Manchester, there are two Walk routes: one is a ½ mile loop and the other is a 1 ¼ mile loop.  You can set your own goal as to how far you wish to Walk. Water tables will be set up on all routes. At Castle Island, the loop is approximately three miles but, again, you choose how far you want to walk.

Can I bring my dog?

All dogs are welcome.  However, dogs must be on leashes and under control at all times.  If you have a dog that will be stressed in an environment with many other dogs, perhaps it might be better if you attended without him. Please be sure to bring water and pick up bags for your dog.

What if it rains?

The Walk will be held rain or shine.

Will there be food?

Free beverages and snacks will be available for all registered walkers. Lunch will be available for purchase.

How do I join a team?

If you are registering online, you must register as an individual first and then add the team name.

I am part of a team where do I check in?

It is best if your team picks a time and location to meet.  Team tables are available at no charge but must be reserved in advanced. Contact Jan Adams, Walk Manager, at 860-243-4801.  The team captain can then check in the team at the registration tent.

Can I register on the day of the Walk?

Yes, you may register on the day of the event, However, you will be able to hit the trails more quickly if you pre-register for the Walk.  You can do so online at www.firstgiving.org/fidelco
